My Teaching Philosophy

I am a big believer in problem solving.  I believe material should be presented in such a way that students are forced to use previous skills in new ways in order to solve problems (It forces them to be creative).  This helps build perseverance and gives a good feeling when a problem is finally solved.  It promotes actual understanding rather than memorization.

I also believe that competition brings about excellence and that group work greatly improves the ability to learn.  Students need to know how to work together in order to solve problems.  Studying together also improves performance.

Any student is capable of performing well in high school and my goal is to impart skills that can be used in every day life.
